Nintendo of America just recently announced the release date of the Gameboy Micro for the United States. The third iteration of the Gameboy Advance is set to be released here on September 19, just over a month away. The Japanese release date is under a week before on September 13.
Although no official price has been given yet, an estimate has been made by the magazine, Popular Science. The reputable publication made an educated guess that the handheld unit will cost somewhere around $100.
This is in no way the official price as of yet, but we can safely assume it will be somewhere around there. Many gamers are a bit worried of this news, as most were hoping the system will cost in the range of the GBA SP at $70-80. Some have said that the estimated price we've been given is for a GB Micro+Play Yan bundle which has been considered in the U.S.
Apart from the real news of the release date, all information of the cost has been pure speculation as of now. We'll keep you updated with more information as it's available.
Update: In a recent press release, it was confirmed that the MSRP will in fact be $99.99. Although this seems a bit pricey for such a system, it'll be well worth it once it's in your hands.
The Gameboy Micro features the brightest, clearest screen of any Gameboy on the market now. It will be available in two colors, Silver and Black, and a wide variety of faceplates will allow you to customize your handheld. The GB Micro measures about 4 inches wide, 2 inches long, 0.7 inches thin and weighs in at 2.8 ounces.
