Nintendo of Europe recently interviewed Kensuke Tanabe, producer of Metroid Prime Hunters and Richard Vorodi, a Nintendo of America employee about the upcoming addition to the Metroid Prime series, Hunters.
They explained that Samus' universe will be much larger in this game with the inclusion of six new bounty hunters. Each of the six will be brand new to the series and each will have their very own backstory that will be told throughout the game. Only three have been revealed so far. They are Spire, the last being of a rock-based race who is searching for answers as to where his people dissappeared to; Noxus, a kind creature trying to help people and rid the galaxy of "bad guys"; Kanden, a lab experiment gone wrong and a virtual killing machine. The two explained that the other 3 characters will be revealed soon, but they didn't say exactly when.
They also told interviewers that the single player mission will be a bit different from previous games in the series. In Hunters, you won't need to collect upgrades to your Chozo suit since you'll already be fully powered and upgraded at the start of the game and this time, you won't lose them after about the first level as in previous games. They explained that past games focused on being claustrophobic and having the need to power up your suit in order to survive. However, in this game, it's all about being the strongest bounty hunter in the galaxy to prove your worth. You will find yourself being the hunter and the hunted. However, it wasn't explained how the story will work. We know that Samus is on a mission to discover ancient relics from a lost race, but it hasn't really been revealed as to what the other bounty hunters will do. We can assume that you'll be going your merry way trying to get the relics when the bounty hunters will unexpectedly jump you, but we'll wait until we can confirm that.
When interviewers asked what power that the ancient relics hold, the pair kept silent and told them that players will have to find out for themselves.
In the game's multiplayer, they said that it won't go online but wirelessly, up to 4 people can connect locally with one cartridge. They also stated that the game will have a huge focus on weapons. They said that most weapons will have a primary and secondary function and that each character will be able to utilize some weapons better than others.
