The Wii controller is innovative. That's without question. But what is truly innovative is the Wii's ability to play many older games in the Nintendo family library. Which raises the good question, how would you play older titles with a very odd shaped controller?

And so, Nintendo has announced a new controller that will fill that old school void. The controller itself has not been given an official name yet. (Photos are coming soon, I promise). But, the design is more of a frankenstein creation of all Nintendo controllers mixed together. Shape and layout of a SNES controller, with 2 analog sticks near the bottom to coincide with N64 and Gamecube games. All the familiar buttons are there, right where they should be. With exception to the Z trigger, the controller should feel right at home, and bring back that nostalgic feel of playing all your favorite 8, 16, and 64 bit classics.

The controller will also feature the same wireless capability, but the speaker and rumble functions have yet to be announced.
