In the Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, an article provided a press release from capcom and various screenshots of the next title to be featured in the Resident Evil series. Capcom's press release confirmed that versions of the game are currently in development for the X-Box 360 and the Playstation 3, but it says nothing about the Revolution.
However, don't feel too sad yet (if you are only getting a Rev and are a fan of the series). It's believed that Nintendo has not yet sent out Dev-kits to any major companies, which could explain why an RE5 isn't in the works for the Revolution as of now. Many other factors are in play, as well, such as the fact that the Revolution system's "revolutionary" ideas are still being heavily guarded, so many publishers and developers are still unsure as to how exactly the system will work and won't yet be able to create games for the mystery system. This may explain why the Revolution only has Nintendo-made games announced for it as of now, and barely any third party games.
The 5th title in the Resident Evil series is to continues the storyline from Resident Evil 4 as the article says. A long time veteran of the series, Jun Takeuchi, is said to be the producer of this new title.
Although the overall theme of the game seems to be different than RE4, many of the gameplay elements seem to be in place for the new title. The screenshots show that the over-the-shoulder camera view may be present in RE5. This camera view has been a lot easier for gamers in the last game and is able to create a more intense and action-packed experience while playing the game. The atmosphere seems to have changed a bit, since some screenshots show a brightly lit street or alley. The setting looks as if it takes place in some sort of city instead of a desolate village in Spain. It also appears that Zombies will make a comeback in this game. A few screenshots show some shadowy figures that give me the feeling that a zombie is staring down its next meal.
We went ahead and added this game to the game's database, just because it's Resident Evil 5, and no matter what system it appears on, we want somewhere to stare at these screenshots easily.
Much more info of this game will definitely be revealed in the coming months, so keep your eyes on Ninformer for any updates. We'll let you know if a Revolution version is in development or if Capcom plans on porting to game to the Rev System.
